The International Workshop on Cloud Data and Platforms 2014 (CloudDP 2014) will be the fourth in a series of workshops that bring together researches interested in cloud-based platforms for high-velocity, high-throughput, big data processing. CloudDP 2014 will be hosted together with EuroSys 2014, a premier forum for discussing issues of systems software research and development.

The focus of CloudDP is on research work that spans the areas of data management, large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructures. CloudDP aims to provide a forum for exchange, for researchers from both domains as only the combination of new data management algorithms and fault-tolerant, scalable distributed systems can provide a solution able to cope with the contemporary big data processing challenges.

CloudDP encourages the submission of novel and previously unpublished work on cloud-based data management systems and platforms, including radical new alternatives. The topics of ClouDP include, but are not limited to:
* fault tolerance
* vertical and horizontal scalability
* elasticity and adaptive scheduling
* resource allocation and provisioning
* predictability in cloud environments
* multi-tenancy and virtualization
* elastic storage and networking
* adaptive data analytics
* new processing paradigms
* programming models

The CloudDP 2014 keynote will be given by Minos Garofalakis, Professor of Computer Science at the School of ECE of the Technical University of Crete in Chania, Greece, and the Director of the Software Technology and Network Applications Laboratory (SoftNet). Prof. Garofalakis currently serves as an Editorial Board Member for Foundations and Trends in Databases and the Proceedings of the VLDB Endowment (PVLDB), and as an Associate Editor for Statistical Analysis and Data Mining (SAM) and Knowledge and Information Systems (KAIS). He was the Core Database Technology PC Chair for VLDB'2007, and has completed terms as Associate Editor for ACM Transactions on Database Systems (ACM TODS, 2008-2011) and IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering (IEEE TKDE, 2007-2011).

Authors are invited to submit original papers that are not being considered for publication in any other forum. Submissions may not exceed 6 pages double column. All submissions will be peer-reviewed and evaluated based on their originality, technical merit and potential impact. All submissions should be made via the EasyChair system https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=clouddp14

The submission deadline is extended to February 10, 2014.
