This week’s Spotlight is on Dr. Yifeng Cui, director of the High Performance GeoComputing Laboratory at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. The Lab was recently named a winner of the HPC Innovation Excellence Award by IDC.

The Creative Side of CUDA
The Boston Cyberarts Gallery is featuring two works of art powered by CUDA. The displays are part of Collision19, a new media art show running until July 28.
  • Dial-A-Style: An Algorithmic Portrait Studio, by Robert Gonsalves, allows visitors to create real-time digital self-portraits in a variety of artistic styles, from Impressionism to Cubism to Anime.
  • Everything is Made of Atoms, by James Susinno and Mark Stock, constructs a dynamic real-time digital image of the viewer composed of thousands of falling and regenerating particles.

New Biomolecular Simulation Appliance
MetroCubo, a new GPU-based appliance running Acellera’s ACEMD bio-molecular simulation software, is now available in the U.S. from Silicon Mechanics. MetroCubo comes preinstalled and tested with ACEMD.
