SRMC2014: Workshop on Scheduling and Resource Management in Cloud (SRMC)

SRMC2014: Workshop oScheduling and Resource Management in Cloud (SRMC)
Hsinchu, Taiwan
To be held in conjunction with ICPADS 2014
December 16-19, 2014

CALL FOR PAPERS

Introduction of cloud computing has changed the users' vision of the computing world. Users, who had always been accustomed to work on a computer with fixed configuration, limited resources and with only handful of software packages, can now be offered hardware and software resources on “use as and when needed” basis and payment for these resources are made just like any other utility bills for the consumers. Cloud computing concerns large-scale interconnected systems and it has the main purpose to aggregate and to efficiently exploit the power of widely distributed resources. Resource Management and Scheduling is one of the most important and challenging aspects of cloud computing as it involves complex optimization problems in a typically dynamic environment. The complexity of the problem increases manifold when user requests have to be respected in accordance with agreement rules. Such requirements need invention of new algorithms and new methods for resource management in order to increase the performance of such systems. On top of such robust systems, new methods are to be invented to create a secured fault tolerant, reliable cloud system which is efficient and more available.

One major objective of the workshop is to explore new directions and avenues of analytical and experimental methods for efficient resource management in cloud environments. This workshop encourages submission of ongoing work, as well as position papers and case studies of existing verification projects. The workshop attempts to combine high-quality contributed papers revealing the latest topics in research in this domain and exciting applications and services from renowned industry houses.

The topics to be covered include but are not limited to:
  • Networking issues
  • Programming models in Cloud
  • Advances in virtualisation of software services
  • Security, and privacy management
  • Cloud composition, orchestration, federation
  • Cloud Workload Profiling
  • Cloud Deployment Control
  • Monitoring and maintenance in Cloud Computing environments
  • Performance optimization, service level agreements
  • Innovative applications and experiences in Cloud Computing for Health care and Emerging Markets

Paper Submission and Publication
Regular research papers with original contribution in relevant areas may be submitted. All submitted papers will be peer reviewed. Papers are to be submitted through EasyChair using the following link:

The proceedings (regular research paper) of the workshop will be published along with the IEEE ICPADS 2014 proceedings by IEEE-CS Press and indexed by EI.
Important Dates
  • Workshop paper submission deadline: August 20, 2014
  • Workshop paper acceptance notification: September 20, 2014
