Call for papers
---------------

The First Workshop on Novel Exascale Systems (NovExS)

To be held in conjunction with the 12th International Conference on High-Performance and Embedded Architectures and Compilers (HiPEAC), Stockholm, Sweden, January 24, 2017.

Workshop website: https://www.hipeac.net/events/activities/7424/novexs/

Deadline extended to November 27th 2016 (AOE).

Objective
---------

Exascale computing remains a grand challenge. While traditional computer systems continue to make great advances, it is argued that a paradigm shift in high performance computing is required to reach exascale. The objective of NovExS is to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to discuss novel ways of achieving exascale.

Scope of the workshop
---------------------

The scope of the workshop is both hardware and software aspects of exascale systems with a focus on novel ways of building systems. Contributions with radically new ideas with high potential but with less rigorous experimentation are welcome.

The list of interests includes, but is not limited to, the following topics. All in the context of exascale systems:
• Architecture of multi-core processors, GPUs, accelerators, heterogeneous systems, memory systems, reconfigurable hardware, interconnects and on-chip networks
• Parallel programming models, languages, environments
• Compiler optimizations and techniques
• Hardware/software design trade-offs in exascale systems
• Operating system, middleware, and run-time system support
• Correctness and performance analysis

Submission of papers
--------------------

Participants willing to give a 20 minutes presentation are asked to send an electronic version of a paper presenting original work that does not exceed six pages using the ACM proceedings format, http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates, to https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=novexs17. All submitted papers undergo peer review.

Proceedings
-----------

Workshop proceedings with the camera-ready versions of accepted papers will be available at the workshop. Because the proceedings have a small and limited distribution, contributions will not disqualify subsequent publications in conferences or journals.
