CUDA Pro Tip: Did you know that "texture objects" (a Kepler feature available in CUDA 5) are easier to use and higher performance than legacy CUDA texture references? Learn more in this Parallel Forall “Pro Tip” blog post.

CUDA SPOTLIGHT

Eldad KlaimanGPU-Accelerated Diagnosis and Treatment for Heart Disease
This week’s Spotlight is on Eldad Klaiman, a signal/image processing engineer at Volcano. Eldad works on an R&D team that develops software to assist physicians who treat coronary disease with devices such as wires, catheters and stents. Read our interview with Eldad Klaiman

CUDA NEWS

New at GTC 2013: In addition to sessions, tutorials and keynotes, GTC will offer three days of hands-on labs focused on GPU programming.

Elemental + Kepler: Elemental announced support for Kepler-based Tesla GPU accelerators for its next-generation high-performance video processing systems. See press release and blog post.

Update from PGI: PGI 2013 offers an all-new GNU-compatible C++ compiler, with support for OpenACC, CUDA 5, Tesla K20 and more.

Upcoming CUDA Book: A new book on CUDA is on the way. The CUDA Handbook, intended for intermediate to advanced CUDA programmers, will be available for purchase by July. It is currently available as a “Rough Cut” on Safari Books Online, where readers can register to preview its content and submit feedback.

CUDA EDUCATION

Intro to Parallel Programming
Explore parallel programming for the first time or push your knowledge even further with Udacity’s Intro to Parallel Programming. Units 1-3 are online now, with units 4-7 rolling out weekly. You can start at any time. Top performers in the course are eligible for awards including NVIDIA GPUs and AWS EC2 credits.

New CUDA Centers
Ten new institutions are now CUDA Research Centers and CUDA Teaching Centers, bringing the total to 238 in 42 countries. New CUDA Research Centers include Baylor College of Medicine/Rice University; Technion; IIT Delhi; and University of Missouri. In addition, NVIDIA announced additional benefits for CUDA Centers, including discounts on Tesla Kepler GPU accelerators from preferred solution providers.
