CUDA: WEEK IN REVIEW

Welcome to CUDA: WEEK IN REVIEW, a news summary for the worldwide CUDA, GPGPU and parallel programming community.
CUDA Pro Tip: Clean up after yourself to ensure accurate profiling and debugging!

CUDA SPOTLIGHT

High-Performance Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging
This week’s Spotlight is on Ismayil Guracar of Siemens Medical Solutions USA. Ismayil and his colleagues have applied CUDA to the high-data-rate signal processing pipeline of the ACUSON SC2000(tm) ultrasound imaging system.

CUDA NEWS

HIV Research Breakthrough
Researchers at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), armed with Tesla GPU accelerators, achieved a breakthrough in the battle to fight the spread of HIV. A paper inNature details how UIUC, with University of Pittsburgh, determined the chemical structure of the HIV capsid, a protein shell that protects the genetic material of the virus.

Prototyping Algorithms and Testing CUDA Kernels in MATLAB
This article describes how MATLAB supports CUDA kernel development by providing a language and development environment for quickly evaluating kernels, analyzing and visualizing kernel results, and writing test harnesses to validate kernel results. The authors use an image white balancing example to demonstrate this workflow.
